GoPro HERO13 Black vs. DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro: Which Action Camera Should You Buy?

Both cameras are excellent, and the two diverge hardest on exactly the specs that matter for different use cases.

Battery life favors the Osmo Action 5 Pro

DJI rates it at up to 4 hours of continuous use — a claimed 50% improvement over its predecessor — versus the HERO13 Black's roughly 1.5 hours at 5.3K30/4K30, or up to 2.5 hours at 1080p30. For all-day activities, that's a real, practical difference.

Resolution ceiling favors GoPro

The HERO13 Black shoots 5.3K at up to 60fps; the Osmo Action 5 Pro tops out at 4K (up to 120fps). If you're cropping heavily in post, GoPro's the pick.

Low light favors DJI

DJI specifically markets the Action 5 Pro's SuperNight low-light mode with AI noise reduction. GoPro's dynamic-range handling is solid but isn't marketed around low light as the primary feature.

Waterproofing favors DJI on paper

Osmo Action 5 Pro: 20m without a case, 60m with the optional case. HERO13 Black: 10m without a case.

Price is close

HERO13 Black: $399 MSRP. Osmo Action 5 Pro: $349 MSRP. Those are the launch prices in the manufacturers' own announcements, and they are the only price figures on this page that stay true. As of 21 August 2026, DJI's own store listed the Action 5 Pro at around $319; street prices move constantly and are not tracked here, so check a current retail listing before treating any number on this page as today's price. A $50 gap in MSRP should not be the deciding factor — battery life and low-light performance should be.
