Mesh Wi-Fi solved a real problem — single routers struggling to cover multi-room homes. The current buying decision comes down to one question: is your internet plan and device fleet fast enough that Wi-Fi 7's improvements actually reach you?

The Wi-Fi 6E option: TP-Link Deco XE75

A tri-band AXE5400-rated system — 574 Mbps on 2.4GHz, 2402 Mbps on 5GHz, 2402 Mbps on 6GHz. Each unit has three Gigabit Ethernet ports, rated to cover up to 5,500 sq ft. Pricing: $219.99 (sale) to $299.99 (regular) for the 2-pack.

The Wi-Fi 7 option: TP-Link Deco BE85

Substantially higher tier: BE22000-rated, 320MHz-wide channels, 4K-QAM, 12 spatial streams. Each unit gets a 10Gbps RJ45 port, a 10Gbps SFP+/RJ45 combo, two 2.5Gbps ports — genuinely supports multi-gigabit fiber. List price around $1,299.99 for a 3-pack.

The honest recommendation logic

The BE85's advantages only matter if you have a multi-gigabit internet plan and Wi-Fi 7-capable client devices. If your internet plan tops out around 500 Mbps-1 Gbps and most devices are a year or two old, the Deco XE75 will deliver effectively the same day-to-day experience for well under half the price. The BE85 earns its price for genuinely fast fiber (2 Gbps+) or heavy local network use.

One shared caveat: "AI-driven mesh" as TP-Link markets it refers to band-steering logic between existing radios — a real, well-established feature, not a generative-AI feature.
